Mason professor Maggie Daniels found that so many students in her event planning course wanted to plan weddings for their final projects that she created a special class focusing exclusively on wedding planning. As she prepared to teach the class for the first time, she realized that existing texts really didn’t meet her needs. Working with Mason alumna Carrie Loveless, MBA ’95 and owner of Carried Away Events, a wedding planning and events management company, the two collaborated on creating their own textbook, Wedding Planning and Management: Consultancy for Diverse Clients. In the Wedding Planning and Management course, students interact with caterers, florists, photographers, and professional planners as they learn the ins and outs of this billion-dollar industry.
