Under the premise of “students developing nonprofits, nonprofits developing students,” Social Venture Consulting (SVC) provides pro bono consulting services to nonprofits that benefit the local and global community. SVC consultants are George Mason University students interested in social innovation, nonprofit development, and consulting. We specifically focus on organization and strategy consulting for small- and medium-size nonprofits in our local and global community.
SVC consultants are supported by advisors from Booz Allen Hamilton and Ashoka: Innovators for the Public. SVC equips Mason students with the critical skills they need to identify and create solutions to important challenges facing nonprofit organizations through hands-on experience and advising.
During the fall 2010 semester, SVC is providing consulting services to Time Banks, a global social enterprise organization. At its core, Time Banks is a complementary currency system where individuals within a community trade their time and talents for Time Dollars, instead of money.
